The following discloses our information gathering and dissemination practices for the HillelUW.org website (the "Website"). What Personal Information Do We Collect?
Information You Give Us. Automated Collection. We also automatically collect and store certain information. When a visitor is on our Website, our web pages or servers automatically recognize the visitor's IP address or domain name, operating system and the web browser being used. Our Website also tracks the way visitors get to our Website through a link in a search engine or other external link. This information is collected to help us analyze trends, administer the Website, and gather broad demographic information for aggregate use. Some of this information is gathered by "cookies", as described below. IP addresses are not linked to personally-identifiable information.
Use of Cookies:
Our Website uses "cookies". A "cookie" is a piece of data stored on the visitor's computer containing certain information about that visitor. We mainly use information collected by cookies to store visitors' preferences. For example, when visiting our Website for the first time, a splash pages comes up. When the visitor clicks on either the Undergraduate, Jconnect or Community sections on the splash page, he or she will then be taken to that section of our Website and his or her preference is recorded in the "cookie" stored on the visitor's computer. With the help of this "cookie", the visitor will then be brought directly to the section of our Website originally selected, which will simplify and enhance the experience. If a visitor rejects the "cookie", he or she may still use our Website, but will be brought back to the splash page every time they visit our Website. A "cookie" may also be used to record a session ID on your computer, which is then used to record session information on our servers.
