JCONNECT HUMAN TRAFFICKING CAMPAIGN

Let my people go...

As Jews, the call to freedom is fundamental to our culture, history, and faith.  The Exodus from Egypt marks the definitive beginning of the Jewish civilization, and as humanity today finds more enslaved than any point in time, it is the obligation of Jews to break these bonds wherever they may find them.

The Jconnect Human Trafficking Campaign is an effort by the young Jews of Seattle to create awareness, build activism, and advocate for issues around slavery.  This site is an evolving part of that effort, providing resources for learning and action, and connecting Jewish people in an effort to end slavery.

Stop Modern Slavery

Projects:

Hillel UW and Jconnect Seattle are partnering with Not for Sale Campaign to bring the first-of-its-kind Freedom Shabbat to life.  We will coordinate dvars, information, and curriculum to help Jewish organizations around the country hold anti-slavery events during Passover, the Jewish remembrance of freedom from bondage.  Sign up your group on the website, or participate with us on Friday, April 2nd.

Slavery-Free Seattle!

We are currently working to make Seattle the first major city in the country to adopt explicitly forced labor-free purchasing rules for all city contracts.  You can help!  Go to http://act.ly/m4 to sign the petition and tweet the effort to others!
