Hillel's Mission
A catalyst toward a meaningful and engaged Jewish life, Hillel UW creates a pluralistic community of 18-32 year olds that utilizes innovative and growth-oriented experiences to create a bridge to the larger Jewish and general communities.
Hillel's Undergraduate Program
Our undergraduate program is full of energy, diversity and life. Led by students and staff on undergraduate program continues to reach new heights. On a typical week at Hillel you can find students engaged in: social justice meetings, attending yoga classes, eating free bagels and schmoozing on campus, hanging out in the cafe, working out in the Hillel gym, sipping lattes with our JCSC fellow and enjoying Shabbat dinner at the end of the week. In addition to all of our weekly programs Hillel UW creates a wide variety of programs that are innovative and exciting. Our undergraduate program is intent on creating conscious communities of students. These communities are created through our programs both in Seattle and abroad. Hillel UW has taken over 120 students to Israel through Hillel International and Taglit-birthright israel. Over 30 students and young adults have also traveled with Hillel UW to Brazil and El Salvador through Alternative Spring Break programs. What We Do
Student leaders and Hillel Staff work together to plan a variety of activites throughout the year. These programs have included hosting concerts both at Hillel and on campus. Concerts have showcased the Israeli rock band Idan Raichel's Project, Matisyahu, and Remedy Ross. We run outdoor programs ranging from sailing on Puget Sound to rock climbing at the UW's IMA. We have hosted Israel speakers from across the political spectrum and numerous Israel cultural programs. In addition to speakers on Israel we have hosted speakers on an assortment of Jewish issues and international speakers on the importance of cross-cultural partnerships. Hillel UW also works with other campuses across the Pacific Northwest for our annual PNW retreat held each fall at Camp Solomon Schechter in Olympia Washington.
