A Shabbat Experiment on Rest, Love, and Connection

Friday, October 20 to Saturday, October 21

Come join Rabbi Brian (Religion Outside of the Box) and Rabbi Dana for a Shabbat experience like nothing you have ever seen before.

Feeling like you don't know your purpose in life? Feeling like you are searching for a sense of fulfillment? Stressed about all the news events in the world, not to mention your exam next week? We can't answer all of these questions, or solve them, but we can provide a restful and meditative place to explore how to connect more deeply with yourself and others to help make each day seem a bit more meaningful and fulfilling.

Curious about how? Well here is a basic breakdown:

Calm -
Meet rest again for the first time. You used to know how to rest, a long time ago, when you were a kid. Now you are in college and you've unlearned so much that you are not certain if you really know how to rest. You could exhaust your body physically or with partying or Netflix. But you aren't sure you really understand resting as well as you used to.

Love -
Learn the four components that make up love. Learn the five ways that love is exchanged. Why? Because once you have learned these, you will be better able to judge what love is, give love, receive love.

Connection -
You will leave feeling a noticeable increase in your sense of connection. This is, for the most part, a good thing. But, it’s also a bit overwhelming. We’ll talk about that. Bottom line: it’s a good thing.

May or may not contain references to G-d.
If you currently do not believe in God, you will not leave this experience believing in God.
If you currently believe in God, you will not leave this experience not believing in God.

Did that help? No? Well come experience the experiment with us!!

Outline of program:

6:15 - 7:00pm     Services (optional)
7:00 - 8:15pm     Shabbat Dinner (did someone say free food?)
8:30 - 9:30pm     A game show with (crappy) prizes and some (fun?) guided mediation
9:30-11:00pm     Improvisational philosophy • spiritual growth analysis clinic • Re-re-creation with God
11:00-12:30am Meeting God in the chapel. (Really. Even if you don’t believe in God, God will be there. Promise.)
12:30-1:30am Ice Cream and Magic show
