Please welcome our wonderful team of student interns for the 2016-2017 school year! They are a passionate group of students who will be an integral part of the Hillel UW family!
Nadav Brumer – Shabbat Intern
I will be a sophomore this 2016-2017 school year and I am extremely excited to be a Hillel intern! To me Hillel has been a strong backbone for me in my transition into college life and so I decided to further my involvement just a bit more. Pumped for more shabbats and get-togethers with the Hillel community!
Claire Butwinick – Creative Arts Intern
I will be a sophomore at UW this fall to continue studying journalism. I have always valued artistic expression, which is why I am so excited to be the Creative Arts intern at Hillel. I am looking forward to integrating Jewish tradition and community outreach with engaging projects!
Emily Callan – Social/Engagement Intern
Shalom! I am so thrilled to be a part of the Hillel Internship team. The environment at Hillel is so friendly and welcoming – it really has provided me with a great place to relax, hang out with friends, and eat some delicious meals! I’m looking forward to planning some great events and meeting some great new people.
Ayala Feder-Haugabook – Shabbat Intern
I am going to be a sophomore next year. I’m hoping to major in psychology. I grew up in San Francisco and I’m hoping to broaden my experience as a member of the Hillel community as well as make Shabbat fun and inclusive for everyone.
Rebecca Gross – Women’s Initiative Intern
Rebecca has been passionate about feminism, women’s rights, and equality as long as she can remember. After years of Jewish summer camp and becoming more involved with Hillel her sophomore year at UW, she began to see how Judaism and feminism are at odds with one another while simultaneously complimenting each other so perfectly. She is excited to engage in discussion with other young Jewish women at Hillel and explore this complex topic as the Women’s Initiative Intern for the 2016-2017 school year!
Leah Haberman – Social Justice Intern
I’m so excited to be one of the 2016-2017 Hillel Social Justice Interns because tikkun olam and social action are central to my Jewish identity. I look forward to working on events that allow people who are passionate about making a difference a platform to figure out their opinions, challenge themselves, and get into situations that force them to look outside their bubble. I want to help create a space where people are comfortable in sharing but are also uncomfortable because their preconceptions and worldview are being challenged. I hope that in this next year I help challenge people and they make me rethink things as well.
Hi everyone! My name is Tamar and I am so excited to be an Israel intern this year. I’m very passionate about Israel and I love educating people about what an important place it is. I spent the ages of 11 to 17 living in Israel, and it really helped shape me into who I am today, so I love getting other people excited about Israel, too!
Yarrow Linden – Israel Intern
I am an incoming junior majoring in Environmental Health with a minor in Jewish studies. I am excited to work with the new team of interns and help to create meaningful programming for something I am so passionate about!
Alicia Raftery – Social Justice Intern
I am so excited to be starting my senior year at UW interning with Hillel. I am double majoring in Environmental Studies and Comparative History of Ideas, and am passionate about the intersection of environmental and social problems, especially in decolonization, education, and environmental justice. I am looking forward to working as the Social Justice Intern to put some of my passions into practice locally with the help of our Jewish community!
Sarah Rosemont – First Year Students of Hillel Intern
I am a going to be a sophomore at UW in the fall, considering a double major in Psychology and Communications. In my free time, I enjoy running, playing guitar, long walks along the beach, and spending time with friends and family. Throughout high school, I became increasingly involved with my Jewish youth group (the National Federation of Temple Youth) and spent my senior year as the Regional Membership Vice President. That position served as a reminder to me that I want to stay involved with Judaism in college, and help other people realize that they are easily able to do the same, which is why I am so stoked to be the First Year Students of Hillel Intern. I can’t wait to meet and welcome all of the incoming Freshman to Hillel and show them why Hillel is special to so many students at the University of Washington.
Lily Rosencrantz – Social/Engagement Intern
Hillel has been an integral part of my freshman year at UW, and I am so appreciative of how it has allowed me connect with so many new and wonderful people. I am looking forward to helping others learn about and join this community, so that they too can experience the warm and caring nature of the fantastic people at Hillel UW!
Tess Seltzer – Women’s Initiative Intern
I am majoring in Medical Anthropology and Global Health and will be a sophomore in the fall. I am so thrilled to be the Women’s Initiative Intern and have the opportunity to connect with and learn from so many strong women throughout the community. I also cannot wait to organize events and help create a network of empowered women here at UW.
