Rosh Hodesh Series: For Women, by Women

Come listen to the stories of five extraordinary Jewish women who will share how their careers evolved with us!

This month is Breast Cancer Awareness Month and we are delighted to be welcoming Heike Malakoff (*see below for more about her!), founder of the CanCan program, to be with us for this first of these five special evenings. Heike’s story will be woven through the CanCan Party and will be an educational evening you won’t want to miss!

What’s a CanCan Party? It’s a great way to educate colleagues, neighbors, family, and friends of any age, gender, and background on ovarian and breast health. Attendees learn the importance of knowing their body, being an advocate for their health, and living a healthy lifestyle. They create a space where attendees feel safe about asking questions, while making it a fun experience as they learn! Workshops are led by trained health instructors who teach on a curriculum in line with the latest scientific and medical knowledge on ovarian and breast cancer. Heike will be with us to share her personal story of surviving breast cancer.

Q&A and refreshments to follow. All undergrads and Jconnectors welcome.

*Heike Malakoff is the Director of Education for the Rivkin Center, a Seattle based nonprofit organization, focused on ovarian and breast health. She is the founder of CanCan Health, a nonprofit she founded in 2005 after her breast cancer diagnosis at the age of 34 which merged to become the education program of the Rivkin Center. Heike and her husband, Ed, and their three teenage children, Maia, Elias, and Max live on Mercer Island. In her free time, Heike cooks, drives her kids around, runs/swims to keep sane, and dreams of opening a women’s pressure washing business.

Future dates for the series are November 8, February 5, March 7, May 5 - Stay tuned for upcoming information about the next four speakers!
