Michelle Obama’s Speechwriter Sarah Hurwitz’s Jewish Journey

Thursday, March 02

7:00pm to 8:00pm
SJCC & Virtual
3801 E. Mercer Way
Contact: Stroum Jewish Community Center

In her bestselling book, Here All Along: Finding Meaning, Spirituality, and a Deeper Connection to Life—in Judaism (After Finally Choosing to Look There), Sarah Hurwitz, former speechwriter for First Lady Michelle Obama and President Barak Obama, offers a behind-the-scenes look at life in the White House while rediscovering her Jewish identity. Her accessible and entertaining book takes readers along on her journey finding spiritual connection in Judaism’s timeless wisdom, age-old practices, and traditions.

Hurwitz was a quintessential “lapsed” Jew—until, after a bad breakup at age 36, she attended an introductory class on Judaism on a whim. The class led her back to Judaism and off on a years-long journey to find answers to her biggest questions. She wondered how there could be such a gap between the richness of what Judaism offered and the way so many Jews like her understand and experience it. In Here All Along Hurwitz works to close this gap by sharing her profound insights and showing us how Judaism’s message is more relevant than ever.

Tickets available here.
