An Evening with Noa Tishby

On Monday, April 11, Israeli Minister of Foreign Affairs Yair Lapid appointed Noa Tishby as Israel’s first Special Envoy for Combating Antisemitism and the Delegitimization of Israel. Read more about this special assignment.
Noa Tishby is an Israeli-American actress, producer, writer and activist. A Tel Aviv native, Tishby served in the Israeli army before landing a starring role on the nation’s highest-rated prime time drama, Ramat Aviv Gimmel. After becoming a household name and appearing in numerous TV shows, films, theater productions and fashion campaigns, Tishby moved to Los Angeles where she sold the Israeli TV show In Treatment to HBO which made history as the first Israeli tv show to become an American series. Tishby earned a Peabody Award and Emmy and Golden Globe nominations for her work on the show. She is the founder of “Act for Israel,” Israel’s first online advocacy organization and is the author of Israel: a Simple Guide to the Most Misunderstood Country on Earth. Free copies of her book will be available to the students who sign up and attend this lecture.

Yom Hazikaron: Memory Through Recipes with Mishelanu

Yom Hazikaron, Israel’s Memorial Day, is a day to memorialize soldiers who lost their lives fighting in the War of Independence and subsequent battles, as well as a day to remember civilian victims of terrorism. Join Hillel UW and Mishelanu as we remember the soldiers who lost their lives, but more specifically Mishael Eyal Levy- a soldier who passed away in 1993. We will be learning about his story and recreating his favorite pizza recipe.

Gili Yalo in Concert: Celebrating Israel’s Birthday w/ pizza & a party bus!

Celebrate Israel’s birthday (Yom Ha’Atzmaut) with an in-person and livestreamed global music concert from musician Gili Yalo, whose intriguing combination of dance Afrobeats, R&B, soul, and futuristic brass comes from a personal and poignant place.
His new EP, “Made in Amharica,” is a result of his cooperation with Grammy Award-nominee Niles City Sound of Dallas, combining modern sounds with Ethiopian roots, dance beats, blues, jazz, and piping-hot soulful funk.
UW Undergrad Students: We have 30 FREE tickets for you! Just register ASAP – first come-first served! We will be meeting at Hillel at 6:00pm and taking a party bus to the SJCC for the concert complete with a pizza dinner onboard the bus!
