Learning at Hillel UW takes many different forms – we’re here to support you on your Jewish journey!
No matter your background or beliefs (or lack thereof) – Hillel UW’s cohort-based learning will give you access to richer conversations and connections with amazing peers. We believe in asking big questions and make no claims about the “right” way to experience Judaism. Our job is to provide you time and space to consider the questions and find your own place.
Refer a friend (who hasn’t signed up yet) and if they register, you’ll receive a $10 Starbucks card (maybe take that friend out for coffee!).
Home and Homeland
What is “the Jewish people,” and who are the Jews? How, if at all, is my Jewish identity bound up with the people, land, or state of Israel? In this class, we will look to classical, rabbinic, and modern Jewish wisdom to consider a contemporary understanding of peoplehood, responsibility, home, and homeland.
There is no requirement to have a particular relationship to Israel to take this course; we welcome diversity of perspectives and backgrounds. We do ask from all participants a willingness to listen, to share your own story honestly, and to approach others with curiosity and good intentions.
To build trust and community, participants are expected to attend all six sessions.
Facilitated by Rabbi Lauren and Hillel UW’s Israel Fellow Yair Shemesh. Vegetarian dinner provided.
Meets six evenings, dates TBA.
