An Evening with Joan Leegant

Wednesday, May 11

6:00pm to 7:30pm
Hillel UW
4745 17th Ave NE
Seattle WA 98105

How far are we willing to go in the name of a cause? Join Jconnect and Hillel UW for an evening with Joan Leegant, renowned author of the novel, Wherever You Go.

Wherever You Go tells the story of three Americans in Israel and shines a light on one of the most disturbing elements in Israeli society today: Jewish extremist groups and their threat to the modern state. Praised as "timely and brave," and "a gripping story about the interplay between politics and religion," Wherever You Go was named by the Union for Reform Judaism as one of its Significant Jewish Books. The Cleveland Jewish News said, "The reader can't wait to turn the next page. This is a novel that will make you both think and feel."

Joan is the author of two prize-winning books of fiction and has received many awards and accolades. She has taught at Harvard, Oklahoma State, and Bar-Ilan University in Israel. This year Joan is the Writer-in-Residence at Hugo House here in Seattle!

We look forward to this evening with you, grappling with Wherever You Go, and gaining a deeper understanding of our own Jewish experiences.

*Get a copy of Wherever You Go! The first 15 people to RSVP to elana@hilleluw.org will receive a free copy of Joan's book to read before the event!*
