Vintage UW

Sunday, January 25

12:00pm to 3:00pm

We’re looking for a few thirsty freshmen!

Students who are selected for the brand-new “Vintage UW” winemaking event will have the opportunity to take part in a one-of-a-kind Jewish learning experience for University of Washington students. This course (for first-year students only!) will give participants the opportunity to make their own wine, while learning with Rabbi Oren Hayon about the traditions that determine whether wine is kosher, and to gain understanding about the role of wine in Jewish observance and celebrations.

Once your homemade soon-to-be wine is bottled, it will be stored and aged to perfection. Then, over the course of your time at UW, you will have additional opportunities to study with Rabbi Oren. When you reach your senior year, you and your family will be invited to Hillel's Senior Shabbat, where we will make a celebratory toast to your college experience with the wine you made by hand. L’chaim!
