Community Mah Jongg @ Hillel UW

Since 2022, Hillel UW has been a center for learning, playing and connecting through Mah Jongg. Undergraduates, graduate students, Jconnectors (Jewish 20-30 somethings), and community members of all ages gather at the Hillel UW building on select Sunday afternoons throughout the year, at no cost, to explore the wonderful world of Mah Jongg.

Tile sets passed down from generation to generation are kept alive through lessons, practice and open play. Friendships are formed that create opportunities to play, improve and schmooze inside and outside of Hillel. Every player has a story; Hillel UW is where these stories unfold. We hope you will play a hand or two with us. All are welcome! See below for upcoming events!

Purchase Your 2026 American Mah Jongg Playing Card Through Hillel UW!

That’s right! You (and really, anyone!) can purchase the highly-coveted annual National Mah Jongg League (NMJL) playing card through Hillel UW! How? Marilyn, our board member and Mah Jongg leader, is a registered Collector of Card Orders with the NMJL. Hillel UW is the designated charity to which the NMJL will donate $6 from every card ordered here!

Card purchases through Hillel UW support not just the growth of Mah Jongg at Hillel, but also Jewish life on campus and Seattle’s broader Jewish community. Please encourage your friends and family – far and wide – to purchase their annual card through us. The more cards we sell, the more dollars raised to support our community programming.

Place your order by January 16, 2026!

Cards are mailed by the NMJL directly to players at the end of March 2026.

When you join Hillel UW’s group order, you receive your card soonest. The NMJL mails group orders to players before individual card orders submitted on the NMJL website.
